This is your invitation to invest deeply in the wild creativity and intuitive brilliance that is your birthright. This is a calling to put YOU at the center of your own priorities.
And you probably need it. Because -- tell me if any of this sounds familiar...
-
You know exactly how to prepare your child’s favorite sandwich, but can’t say what makes your heart leap and your creativity bubble
-
You can fill a journal with pages and pages about the complexity and nuance of your parenting experience, but when you try to talk about it with the other parents, you get blank stares and quick changes of subject.
-
The spirituality you used to find comforting now feels stale or oppressive, and some part of you wishes you could’ve been born in a world that still believed in fairies and told stories about how the gods drive the sun across the sky.
-
The idea of passion and desire feels so far off. All you can want is to be left alone, but you also wish for flushed cheeks, a pounding heart, a belly laugh that makes you cry, the pulse of passion in your veins.
-
Your calendar is full (or achingly empty), but you still don’t have any time or space that belongs just to you.
This community is designed for the wistful poets, the autistic dreamers, the chaotic contemplatives, as well as the passionate PDAers, the raging contrarians, the curious wallflowers, all of us who find ourselves parenting outside the box.
THIS IS ME.Can you relate??
You wake up each day, pouring much of your best and truest self into parenting, but there are WOUNDS and WORRIES and WONDERINGS that never ease.
What exactly is it all for?
Where do I fit?
What do I believe in?
How do I give what I never received?
Why do I feel simultaneously so full and so empty? Surrounded and still lonely?
Therapy is beautiful,
and parent support groups are essential.
But this is something else entirely.
I'm into it... but what exactly is this all about?
Using the imagery and archetypes of the Tarot, we will explore our parenting, our lineage, and our identity as women, femmes, and nonbinary parents,
who care about liberation, radical respect, and intergenerational healing.
Together, we will use these wonderful cards
to create our own interpretive guide
using all kinds of creative outlets–music and playlists, creating our own art, writing and reading poetry, journaling, dancing, collaging, even playing with slime, building with legos, watching your kids’ favorite show, or staring out the window.
It doesn’t matter how you process or creatively respond—
this group will nurture a safe and expansive space to play.
Wait. Isn't tarot...scary?
As a trained Christian pastor, I felt scared and uncertain about the idea of tarot when I first heard about it.
But I felt an unmistakable magnetic pull to know more. I bought my first deck full of pictures of woodland creatures, butterflies, sparkling stars, and vining flowers. The drawing spoke to a part of my soul in a language I had not explored in decades... Not since I was a little girl, humming songs and making potions in the shade of my grassy backyard. My busy analytical brain quieted, and my sparkling creativity roared to life.
Tarot cards are visual decks of 72 cards, and each card embodies one archetype of being human. Heartbreak, exhaustion, overwhelm, and mental clutter are all there. Silliness, community, steady confidence, and intuitive knowing are all there.
By getting to know the cards, we get to know ourselves.
By spending time with the cards, we allow aspects of our experience that we might fear, resist, long for, and hide from to take up more space. These images and archetypes create space for us to become more fully our true selves.
Some people think of these as cards for divination or reading the future.
But I believe their power is actually an invitation to be fully in the present.
What better gift could we have to tending to our challenging (and beautiful) parenting life? For reaching back toward our long-neglected inner-children? For making sense of the infinite complexity of lineage, ancestry, parenting, and healing?
Hi, I'm Amanda.
I've written two books on parenting ND kids in hard seasons, and I'm working on a third book about parenting trauma. And while I do like talking about parenting, unschooling, and radically respecting our kids, what I LOVE is to see other womxn come back to life. I LOVE to see them trust themselves, choose themselves, and use their power to move our world toward justice and joy.
Amazingly, I have gotten to do this for my job for years now. Leading groups of wonderful, hurting, isolated womxn into vibrant community, anchored in self-knowing.
Yeah, most of us are neurodivergent, neurospicy, living with trauma, and whatever else you want to toss in there. So we've had plenty of experiences of feeling wrong, different, too-much, too-quiet, too "out there." And I just LOVE IT when we create a space of rightness, of connection, of enoughness, of gentleness.
When you look around a circle of other humans and know in your bones that you are safe--- that is healing beyond anything I could ever teach.
That has to be experienced.
